Zynq UltraScale+is the first to pass the comprehensive certification of vehicle functional safety

Functional safety is an essential requirement for the Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), Automatic Driving (AD) including Look Around/Parking Aid (APA) systems, and sensor centers including front facing cameras, laser radars, and millimeter wave radars. The different security requirements of many customer products must be met before deployment.


We are pleased to announce that we have completed Zynq ® UltraScale+ ™ Functional safety certification of the full power consumption domain (FPD) and programmable logic (PL) power consumption domain. As a result, our Zynq UltraScale+device is the first to become an adaptive SoC that has fully passed the certification of ISO 26262, IEC 61508 and ISO 13849 functional safety standards and can be used for relevant functional safety applications. Zynq UltraScale+SoC, which has passed the vehicle specification level certification, provides engineers with application ready devices that can meet the required functional safety standards.

Through independent evaluation of Zynq UltraScale+devices, AMD is continuously committed to the field of automotive functional safety. Based on the previous low power consumption domain (LPD) ASIL C/SIL3 HFT=1 certification, the device has reached the ASIL B/SIL2 level certification of the full power consumption domain (FDP), and also reached the ASIL B/SC2 level certification of the programmable logic power consumption domain. Developers can now design automotive functional safety applications based on Zynq UltraScale+adaptive SoC to provide high performance, support multiple redundant channels, and use up to three independent power supply domains with ASIL certification. In addition, developers can continue to take advantage of the embedded FPGA architecture, accelerate the performance better than conventional software systems, and achieve fast response time with low latency to meet the needs of safety critical systems.

Combined with IEC 61508 and ISO 13849 (Safety Standards for Industrial Machinery), AMD provides developers with a complete ecosystem, including support for certified development tools and documents, assessment reports, and verified IP, to minimize risks to customers and their safe applications.


By purchasing the access rights of AMD's functional safety lounges, developers can find relevant tools and resources to support highly integrated security critical system applications. Special permissions include access to Zynq UltraScale+security manuals, device and architecture updates, tool processes, test libraries and documents (including future reports and assessments). These tools and resources are provided to developers through AMD authorized dealers or AMD sales representatives.
